Interviewing Photographers

What’s the most important question you can ask

. . . each photographer you talk to?   Imagine this:  You’re looking for just the right photographer to photograph your upcoming wedding.  You’ve dialed the number of a photographer that your friend suggested and the phone is ringing.  What is going to be the first question you ask when they answer the phone?   In my experience, the most predictable question is > “How much are your wedding packages?”

Through the years, I’ve talked with hundreds of brides2B  (on the phone or at Bridal Fairs) and, most of the time, that’s the only question they ask.  What question(s) would YOU ask?  Consider this one:  “Why should I hire you to photograph my wedding?”     I hope you’ve got a pencil and paper because a really savvy photographer is just about to give you alot of really useful information.  Give it a try.  Here’s an offer, the first young lady that calls me (Impressive Images Photography  478-737-2244), and asks me that question, is going to get 25% off any one of our Wedding Album Collections.

Don’t let your photographer sell you Ink Jet prints.

When interviewing a photographer, it’s important to ask whether the prints that you order will be printed on inkjet paper OR photographic paper.  Images printed on professional photographic paper have a life span that should exceed 75 years. Admittedly, great strides have been made in injet technology.  When certain inks are printed on specific inkjet papers the resulting print is considered “archival” and should last for decades; but not all photographers go to the expense of using that ink / paper / printer combination.  If you choose to use a photographer that is going to provide you with inkjet prints, protect yourself (and your irreplaceable memories) by having a “no fade” guarantee written into the contract that you sign.

PS  This weekend, I’m going to be writing about an incredible experience that I had this week that YOU will benefit from.  Check back then!
